Amber that fluoresces blue in direct sunlight, a rare optical effect caused by hydrocarbon compounds found in only a handful of Dominican deposits — under ordinary indoor light, it simply looks gold. It is rare enough that owning it is closer to inheritance than purchase. Cool at first touch, warming slightly the longer a hand rests on it. Under bright light, translucent blue-gold amber aggregate catches and holds a warm glow, the way firelight settles into old wood. Belongs on backlit inlay and small panels — the kind of application that gives a material like this room to be seen properly.
