What if the most premium material in a room wasn't chosen for how it looks, but for what it survived to become? That's Calacatta Borghini. The transformation took place in total darkness, beneath Carrara, Italy, over a span of time longer than the existence of most species that have ever lived — limestone becoming marble, one degree of heat and one century at a time. The result is bright white, thick grey-gold vein clusters: pale as the first light of morning, before colour has fully arrived, the kind of detail a camera can capture but never quite explain. Rare enough to matter, available enough to build with — this is the stone for flooring, cladding, or kitchen islands, the detail a space is designed around rather than finished with.
