Fluorite
Semi-Precious Stone
Bands of purple and green laid down in distinct mineral pulses, in a crystal soft enough to carve and rare enough, in slab form, to almost never be offered at all. It is scarce enough to be spoken of before it is seen. Smooth to the touch, faintly cool. A bright light drawn across banded purple-green translucent reveals depth within depth, layer behind layer, the way a forest looks from just inside its edge. Chosen most often for backlit panels, where its character has the space to be the whole point of the room.
