Marble

Before Paonazzo Extra was a material, it was a process — slow, extreme, and entirely indifferent to whether anyone would ever see the result. Limestone does not become marble by accident. It takes heat most rock never survives, and pressure measured not in force but in the sheer weight of time, until — deep beneath Carrara, Italy — one kind of stone became another. Cut open, what waited inside was white with dramatic purple-gold breccia: bright enough to seem lit from the inside, even in ordinary daylight. What's quarried this year won't necessarily be available next year in the same grade, which is why it's chosen for bookmatched walls or headboards — spaces meant to hold attention, not just fill it.
