Location: Iran · Stone: Travertine · Rarity: Very Rare Formed by the same springs that have deposited calcium carbonate near Iran for centuries — its texture is the water's own rhythm, made permanent. It is the kind of material a good stone merchant sets aside before it is even listed. Smooth and substantial underhand. A bright light across terracotta red with strong banding draws out a warmth that seems to come from within the stone rather than from the light itself. Chosen most often for feature cladding and columns, where its character has the space to be the whole point of the room.
