Formed as mineral-rich water moved slowly through limestone caves near Iran, depositing calcite in bands, one thin layer at a time. It is scarce enough to be spoken of before it is seen. It feels dense and grounded to the touch. Lit well, warm pink-red translucent banding holds a glow reminiscent of the last hour before sunset. Chosen most often for backlit vanities and headboards, where its character has the space to be the whole point of the room.
